2018 Bradford House Poster Contest

The Bradford House Museum is again sponsoring two Poster Contests, open to all middle and high school students (public, parochial, cyber and home-schooled) in Washington and Greene Counties, on a topic of Western Pennsylvania history, 1750 – 1850. Students are required to construct a presentation on a standard size trifold display board, register online during January and February, and deliver the project to the Bradford House in early March.

Winning projects will be displayed at the Symposium on 18th Century Life and Customs in Western Pennsylvania, An Evening with John Adamson April 6, 2018.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 5 entries in each division: Middle School (grades 5-8) and High School (grades 9-12).

2017 Bradford House Symposium

On March 31st at 6:30pm the David Bradford House presents its annual Symposium on Life and Customs of Western Pennsylvania. This year the symposium, “Remember the Ladies: An Evening With Abigail Adams” will feature a talk by Kim Hanley who portrays Abigail Adams. She will discuss Abigail Adam’s political influence with her husband, John Adams, and her son, John Quincy Adams. Other topics will include education, patriotism, and the role of women in early American politics.

National Road Festival Returns to Washington, PA

After a near 30 year absence from downtown Washington, the National Road Festival has new nrhc logoreturned with 2 days of exciting events for the whole family.
